Keenan Allen Rejoins Los Angeles Chargers to Boost Receiver Corps
Keenan Allen is set to return to the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year, $8.5 million contract, following a single season with the Chicago Bears. The move reunites Allen with the Chargers, where he spent 11 seasons and became one of the franchise’s all-time leading receivers. The deal, first reported by NFL Network insiders and confirmed by the team, fills a crucial gap in the Chargers’ receiving corps after the retirement of Mike Williams.

Allen, who turns 33 this year, was originally drafted by the Chargers in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Over his career, Allen has made six Pro Bowl appearances and accumulated 904 receptions for 10,530 yards and 59 touchdowns with the Chargers. In the 2023 season, he posted a career-high 108 catches for 1,243 yards before being traded to Chicago, where he played 15 games, caught 70 passes, and totaled 744 receiving yards.

Despite his age and recent injury history—he hasn’t played a full season since 2019—Allen remains a reliable target and will provide veteran leadership to a young Chargers receiver room. He joins Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and rookies Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Allen’s return to Los Angeles is seen as a positive both for the team’s on-field prospects and for fans, as he ranks second in franchise history in receptions and receiving yards, trailing only Antonio Gates.

For more on Allen’s career and up-to-date stats, visit his ESPN profile or follow him on Twitter. Allen’s experience and production should be a major asset as the Chargers look to return to playoff contention in 2025.
