In the second quarter, Lamb, who was resting alongside other starters like Dak Prescott, was standing in the restricted white border area on the sideline. As he signaled to teammates during a long pass play, a sprinting official collided with his back, sending both tumbling to the ground. The play immediately drew a flag for sideline interference, and the penalty erased a significant Dallas gain despite laughter from Lamb and his teammates following the collision.
Referee Alex Moore explained postgame that Lamb’s position in the restricted area led to the automatic foul: “It’s sideline interference. CeeDee Lamb was standing in the restricted white border area, which is our area to officiate the game. The official on the play was focused solely on doing his job, and he ran into CeeDee Lamb, who was standing in that restricted area. That’s what happened. And with that contact, it’s an automatic foul.” Moore described the incident as uncommon but not unprecedented, stating, “It’s more of a rare situation. Normally, we don’t have anybody standing that deep into the restricted area, or that type of forceful contact.”
Despite speculation and viral social media clips—including posts from JPA Football—Lamb was uninjured and did not require medical attention. The Cowboys have not reported any injury or anticipated absence for Lamb, who remains a central figure in their offense. In 2024, Lamb recorded 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns, underscoring his importance ahead of the 2025 regular season.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer acknowledged the need for greater discipline after Dallas committed 11 penalties in the loss, emphasizing that such errors—including rare sideline incidents—must be eliminated moving forward. The next official injury report from the Cowboys is expected later this week, but as of now, CeeDee Lamb’s health and availability for the regular season are not in question.
