Giants Dominate Jets to Secure 31-12 Preseason Victory
The New York Giants delivered a commanding performance in their annual preseason matchup, defeating the New York Jets 31-12 at MetLife Stadium on August 16, 2025. The Giants improved to 2-0 in the preseason, while the Jets dropped to 1-1.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was the standout, completing 14 of 16 passes for 137 yards, throwing one touchdown and rushing for another. Dart took over for veteran starter Russell Wilson in the first half and immediately made an impact, connecting with tight end Theo Johnson for a 30-yard gain. He later led a 71-yard drive capped by a 20-yard touchdown pass to Greg Dulcich and followed it up with a quarterback sneak for a score, completing 13 consecutive passes at one point.

Russell Wilson opened the game with an 80-yard completion to undrafted rookie Beaux Collins, setting up an early touchdown by Devin Singletary. Wilson finished with 4 completions on 7 attempts for 108 yards and one interception. Despite the pick, head coach Brian Daboll praised Wilson’s vision and the explosive play that set the tone for the Giants’ offense. Seven different Giants had receptions of 20 yards or more, and the team surpassed 30 points for the second straight preseason game.

On the Jets’ side, Justin Fields started at quarterback but struggled, completing just 1 of 5 passes for 4 yards across two run-heavy drives. The Jets’ offense managed only a pair of field goals from veteran kicker Nick Folk in the first half. Rookie wide receiver Quentin Skinner provided a bright spot, hauling in a one-handed 4-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter from rookie QB Brady Cook. Receivers Brandon Smith and Arian Smith also contributed, combining for over 80 yards.

Defensively, the Giants saw strong performances from Dane Belton, who recorded a team-high seven tackles, and rookie safety Makari Paige, who notched an interception off Jets quarterback Adrian Martinez. For the Jets, rookie safety Dean Clark tallied a sack and an interception in the second half.

Special teams featured Jude McAtamney handling the Giants’ kicking duties, converting a 35-yard field goal and all four extra point attempts. For the Jets, Kene Nwangwu made an impact with a 38-yard kick return and a key play downing the ball inside the Giants’ 10-yard line.

Both teams dealt with injuries: Jets returner Xavier Gipson left with a shoulder injury, while key defenders Sauce Gardner and Will McDonald were held out as a precaution. The Giants reported no major injuries.

The Giants will conclude their preseason against New England, while the Jets face the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. For more detailed stats and highlights, visit Giants 31-12 Jets (Aug 16, 2025) Game Recap and the official NFL Game Center.
