The Norfolk State Spartans opened their 2025 football season with a 27-7 loss to Towson at William “Dick” Price Stadium, marking the beginning of the highly anticipated Michael Vick era as head coach.

The Spartans, representing Norfolk State University in NCAA Division I FCS, struggled offensively in their home opener. Towson quarterback Andrew Indorf threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns, while Kemarrion Battles added 79 rushing yards, securing the victory for the Tigers. Norfolk State managed just one touchdown, falling behind early and unable to recover.

This loss leaves the Spartans at 0-1 overall and 0-0 in conference play. Michael Vick, a former NFL quarterback and Virginia native, took over as head coach in 2025, bringing renewed attention to the Spartans program. Alongside Vick, the coaching staff features notable names such as offensive coordinator Brian Sheppard, defensive coordinator Terence Garvin, and special teams coordinator Tory Woodbury, all aiming to revitalize Norfolk State’s football ambitions.
