Watch Georgia Tech Face Off Against Colorado in Exciting Season Opener

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Colorado Buffaloes are set to open their 2025 college football seasons with a highly anticipated matchup at Folsom Field in Boulder on August 29, 2025. This game not only marks the beginning of the third season for Deion Sanders as head coach of the Buffaloes, but also highlights a clash between two programs with much to prove after pivotal offseason changes and strong previous campaigns.

Georgia Tech enters the contest as a 3.5-point favorite, according to the latest odds from ESPN. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 7-6 season under head coach Brent Key and return a wealth of experience, including nine starters such as quarterback Haynes King and running back Jamal Haynes, who rushed for 944 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024. The offense, coordinated by Buster Faulkner, is expected to be a driving force, bolstered by a top-20 recruiting class and several impact transfers. Georgia Tech’s offensive line, led by standout Keylan Rutledge, is considered one of the best in the ACC, giving King the support he needs as a proven dual-threat quarterback.

On the other side, Colorado is adjusting to life after the departures of Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, both of whom have moved on to the NFL. The Buffaloes finished last season with a strong 9-4 record, but will have a new face under center in Kaidon Salter, a transfer from Liberty. Salter brings an impressive résumé, having thrown for 5,887 yards and 56 touchdowns, and rushing for over 2,000 yards and 21 scores during his collegiate career. His best season at Liberty saw him account for 2,876 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 1,089 rushing yards. The altitude of Boulder (5,360 feet) could provide a subtle edge for the Buffaloes, who were a dominant 5-1 at home in 2024.

The betting market has seen action move the line to Georgia Tech -4.5 at several sportsbooks, with the total points over/under sitting at 51.5. Some experts, such as Mike Tierney of SportsLine, are leaning toward the under on total points, citing Georgia Tech’s offensive firepower but also noting potential growing pains for Colorado as Salter acclimates to a new system and set of teammates.

Historically, Georgia Tech is looking to build on last season’s momentum, which included pushing in-state rival Georgia to an epic eight-overtime thriller. For Colorado, the spotlight remains bright under Coach Prime, with the program continuing to attract high-level talent through the transfer portal and strong recruiting classes.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET and will be broadcast on ESPN. Fans can also tune in via Xtra 106.3 FM/1230 AM radio. For those seeking in-depth statistics, live scoring, and play-by-play coverage, ESPN’s Gamecast provides real-time updates throughout the contest.

As the betting markets continue to shift and both teams finalize preparations, all eyes will be on Boulder to see whether Georgia Tech’s offense can deliver on its promise or if Colorado’s home advantage and new quarterback can pull off the upset.
