Aryna Sabalenka Advances to Fourth Round and Enjoys Unique Marriage Proposal Moment
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the fourth round of the 2025 US Open after a straight-sets victory over Leylah Fernandez, 6-3, 7-6(2), at Louis Armstrong Stadium. The match was highlighted by a unique off-court moment when the stadium jumbotron captured a fan’s mid-match marriage proposal, drawing cheers from the crowd and a smile from Sabalenka herself.

Sabalenka later commented on the proposal, admitting it was the first time she had witnessed such an event during her match. She described the moment as “very sweet,” but emphasized her focus on the game. “I was just trying not to start smiling, because it’s very cute and I believe they’re super happy right now,” she said in her post-match interview. Sabalenka also joked about her own relationship, saying there was “no pressure” on her boyfriend, Brazilian entrepreneur Georgios Frangulis, who was present in the stands.

Sabalenka and Frangulis have been together since 2024, with Frangulis regularly traveling to support her at tournaments around the world. He is the founder and CEO of Oakberry, a global superfood brand specializing in açaí products. Sabalenka became an Oakberry ambassador in January 2024 and launched her own signature açaí bowl ahead of the US Open. The couple often shares their moments together on social media, and Sabalenka has described Frangulis’ support as “priceless.”

With her win over Fernandez, Sabalenka continues her title defense and will next face Cristina Bucșa in the fourth round. The Belarusian star is aiming to secure her second consecutive US Open title after capturing the trophy in New York last year.
