Alabama Crimson Tide Dominates UL Monroe Warhawks in 73-0 Shutout
No. 21 Alabama Crimson Tide delivered a statement win, shutting out the 73-0 at Bryant-Denny Stadium on September 6, 2025. Alabama rebounded emphatically from their season-opening loss, scoring on all 11 of their possessions—ten touchdowns and a field goal—while holding UL Monroe to just 148 total yards. Quarterback Ty Simpson set a school record by completing all 17 of his passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns, orchestrating four consecutive touchdown drives to open the game. Backup QBs Austin Mack and Keelon Russell each added two touchdown passes, highlighting the Crimson Tide’s depth. The offensive onslaught began early, with Simpson connecting with Germie Bernard for two first-quarter touchdowns, and Richard Young adding a three-yard rushing TD. Simpson also scored on an eight-yard run in the second quarter, followed by touchdown passes from Mack to Kaleb Edwards and from Simpson to Isaiah Horton. Alabama led 42-0 at halftime. In the second half, kicker Conor Talty added a 46-yard field goal before Mack found Josh Cuevas for another TD. Russell then connected with Cole Adams and MJ Chirgwin for touchdowns, and AK Dear capped the rout with a 56-yard rushing score late in the fourth quarter. Defensively, Alabama was dominant, forcing three turnovers and limiting the Warhawks to nine first downs. The Tide finished plus-3 in turnover margin, a marked improvement after failing to force any in their previous game. Kamrin Canterbury led ULM with seven tackles, but the Warhawks never threatened to score. For Louisiana-Monroe, quarterback Aidan Armenta managed just 28 passing yards with an interception. The Warhawks’ offense was stifled throughout, managing only 93 rushing yards and 55 net passing yards. Alabama’s win, combined with losses by several ranked teams, positions them to move up in the AP Top 25 poll. The Crimson Tide (1-1) will look to maintain momentum as they host Wisconsin next week, while Louisiana-Monroe (1-1) heads into a bye before facing UTEP on September 20. Head coach Kalen DeBoer praised his team’s response, noting Simpson’s poise and the defense’s renewed energy. The victory not only erased memories of the season-opening defeat to Florida State but also showcased Alabama’s potential on both sides of the ball.
