Jakobi Meyers Traded to Jacksonville Jaguars to Strengthen Offense
Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has been traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for fourth- and sixth-round draft picks, according to multiple league sources. The move comes as the NFL trade deadline closes, capping weeks of speculation after Meyers requested a trade following unsuccessful contract negotiations with Las Vegas.

The 28-year-old Meyers, who signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Raiders in 2023, leaves the team after seven games this season in which he recorded 33 receptions for 352 yards. Over his six full NFL seasons, Meyers has averaged 65.5 catches and 765.3 yards per year, with 20 career touchdown receptions and two rushing scores. Known for his consistency, he is one of just 10 receivers to notch at least 67 receptions and 800 receiving yards in each of the past four seasons, peaking last year with a career-high 1,027 receiving yards—his first 1,000-yard campaign.

Meyers’ final game for the Raiders came against his new team, the Jaguars, where he posted four catches for 23 yards in a Jacksonville win. His departure leaves Las Vegas, now at 2-6, looking for answers on offense in their first season with quarterback Geno Smith and head coach Pete Carroll. Third-year wideout Tre Tucker is expected to take on a larger role, especially with tight end Brock Bowers working back from injury.

For Jacksonville, the acquisition of Meyers is designed to bolster their passing attack as they push for a playoff spot. Meyers brings reliability and experience, having led the New England Patriots in receiving yards for three consecutive years before joining the Raiders. The Jaguars will inherit his current contract and are likely to explore a long-term extension if the fit proves successful.

Meyers, born November 9, 1996, in Lithonia, Georgia, stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 193 pounds. He played college football at North Carolina State before going undrafted in 2019. Since entering the league, he has appeared in 98 games, amassing 426 receptions and 4,944 yards.

Looking ahead, Meyers projects as a solid WR3/4 for fantasy purposes, offering a reliable floor for Jacksonville while Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. round out the Jaguars’ receiving corps. As the Jaguars aim to maximize their playoff window, Meyers’ consistency and versatility could prove crucial down the stretch.
