Shaheed, who has rapidly ascended from undrafted free agent out of Weber State to arguably the Saints’ number one receiver, has become a household name thanks to his blistering speed and penchant for making big plays. Through the first nine games of the 2025 season, Shaheed led the Saints in targets (averaging 6.8 per game), hauling in 44 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns. His highlight-reel 87-yard touchdown against the Giants was a microcosm of his game-breaking ability.
But Shaheed’s talent isn’t limited to offense—he’s been a force on special teams, earning first-team All-Pro honors as a punt returner and a Pro Bowl nod as a return specialist in 2023. That season, he notched 25 punt returns for 339 yards and a touchdown, plus 28 kick returns for a staggering 1,479 yards. In just four years, he’s already racked up 138 career receptions, 2,055 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns, in addition to 19 rushes for 128 yards and a score.
The Seahawks, already boasting the NFL’s leading receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, veteran Cooper Kupp, and breakout rookie Tory Horton, are doubling down on explosiveness. Under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Seattle leads the league in yards per pass attempt (9.6) and yards per completion (13.7), while quarterback Sam Darnold’s deep ball has produced seven completions of 40-plus yards—tops in the league.
For the Saints, it’s the end of an era. Shaheed, who became a fan favorite with his electrifying touchdowns and dazzling returns, will be dearly missed in New Orleans. The Saints’ offense loses its most dynamic weapon, and with Shaheed previously undergoing knee surgery that ended his 2024 campaign early, questions loom about their receiving corps going forward.
