The Rams came out firing on all cylinders, building a 21-0 lead before the midpoint of the second quarter. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was in peak form, completing 25 of 35 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns, without a single interception. Two of those scores went to Davante Adams, who continues to build his Hall-of-Fame résumé, recently surpassing 1,000 career receptions and notching double-digit touchdown seasons for the seventh time—joining legends like Jerry Rice and Randy Moss.
The Rams’ offensive explosion began with a 10-play, 80-yard drive capped by Stafford’s 1-yard touchdown pass to Adams. Moments later, cornerback Cobie Durant intercepted Baker Mayfield and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown, putting Los Angeles up 14-0. Stafford then found tight end Colby Parkinson on a no-look pass for a 5-yard score early in the second quarter. The Buccaneers briefly closed the gap with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Mayfield to rookie Tez Johnson, but Stafford quickly answered with a 24-yard strike to Adams.
By halftime, Los Angeles led 31-7, outgaining Tampa Bay 224-109 in total yardage. Kicker Harrison Mevis, perfect on extra points all season, nailed his first two career field goals (from 40 and 52 yards), providing further stability to a previously shaky special teams unit.
The Rams’ defense, despite missing top secondary pieces like Ahkello Witherspoon and Quentin Lake, limited the Buccaneers to just 103 passing yards (combining Mayfield and backup Teddy Bridgewater). Durant’s pick-six was a highlight, and the pass rush—led by Kobie Turner and Jared Verse, who each tallied two sacks—stifled Tampa Bay’s offense all night. Mayfield, who had entered the game as a possible MVP candidate after a strong season start, finished just 9-of-19 for 41 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions before departing at halftime with a left shoulder injury. He was replaced by Bridgewater, who completed 8-of-15 for 62 yards and was sacked twice.
For Tampa Bay, the loss was their fourth in five games. Their running game showed flashes, with Sean Tucker and Rachaad White combining for 80 yards on 19 carries, but the negative game script forced them to abandon the ground attack early. Chris Godwin returned to the lineup but was held in check, and the offense struggled to find rhythm after Mayfield’s exit.
With this win, the Rams extended their streak to six games and now lead the NFL in point differential (+127). Their average margin of victory during the streak is an impressive 18.5 points. The Rams’ playoff chances remain sky-high, while the Buccaneers’ postseason hopes have taken a hit but remain alive given their upcoming schedule, which includes crucial NFC South matchups.
Next up, the Rams will travel to face the Carolina Panthers, another NFC contender. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, return home to play the struggling Arizona Cardinals as they look to rebound and stay in the divisional race.
