IND vs ENG Test: Rare! Anshul Kamboj becomes first …

As India prepares for the fourth Test against England in Manchester, all eyes are on the potential debut of fast bowler Anshul Kamboj. The young pacer was brought into the squad due to injuries to key players Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. While Prasidh Krishna is also a strong contender, Kamboj’s inclusion has sparked interest due to his promising performance in first-class cricket.

India’s captain, Shubman Gill, has expressed confidence in Kamboj’s ability to deliver match-winning performances. “We believe Anshul can win us the match,” Gill stated, emphasizing Kamboj’s fit within the team’s strategy. Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also praised Kamboj, comparing his strategic understanding to Indian greats Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah.

Despite the pressure to choose between Kamboj and Krishna, both of whom bring different strengths to the table, the decision remains crucial. Sanjay Bangar, India’s former batting coach, highlighted the need for a bowler who can exploit the bounce at Old Trafford. “Prasidh has the experience, but Anshul’s ability to execute plans effectively makes him a valuable asset,” Bangar noted.

The upcoming Test will not only be a test of skill for Kamboj but will also provide clarity on the future composition of India’s bowling attack as they face the resilient English side.
