India vs England 4th Test, Day 1: Rishabh Pant’s Record and India’s Strong Start

In the fourth Test match between India and England at Old Trafford, Manchester, Rishabh Pant achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first-ever wicketkeeper-batter to score over 1000 Test runs in an away country. Pant’s achievement came as India ended the first day in a commanding position with a score of 212/3.

England’s captain, Ben Stokes, won the toss and chose to bowl first. India’s openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul provided a solid start with a 94-run partnership. Jaiswal scored 57, while Rahul contributed 46 before being dismissed by Chris Woakes. Shubman Gill was out for 12, but Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant steadied the innings.

Sudharsan played a patient innings, reaching 48 not out, while Pant was unbeaten on 37 at the end of the day’s play. Despite a brief injury scare for Pant, he continued to bat alongside Sudharsan, adding crucial runs for the team.
