Red Sox Extend Winning Streak by Defeating Royals 8-5
The Boston Red Sox extended their winning streak to six games after a hard-fought 8-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park. The Red Sox, led by Jarren Duran‘s explosive three-run homer and a solid pitching performance from Brayan Bello, continue to assert themselves in the American League playoff race.

Jarren Duran was the key offensive catalyst, launching his 12th home run of the season—a 419-foot blast to deep center—which broke the game open in the first inning. Duran also made a highlight-reel, run-saving leaping catch in front of the Green Monster, underlining his impact both offensively and defensively. Rob Refsnyder contributed with a crucial two-run single to give the Red Sox an early lead, setting the tone for the game.

On the mound, Brayan Bello (8-5) delivered another quality start, allowing just one unearned run over six innings and scattering six hits. Bello has now allowed three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his last 14 starts, providing much-needed consistency for Boston’s rotation. The Red Sox bullpen held on despite a late surge by the Kansas City Royals, who struck for back-to-back home runs from Vinnie Pasquantino and Maikel Garcia as part of a four-run eighth inning.

Closer Aroldis Chapman secured his 21st save of the season, working around trouble in the ninth to preserve the win. The Royals’ starter Bailey Falter (7-6) struggled, getting pulled after four innings while being tagged for seven runs on eight hits.

Defensively, Boston rookie Wilyer Abreu replaced Roman Anthony (scratched due to mid-back tightness) and made a pivotal throw in the eighth inning, gunning down Nick Loftin at the plate after a single by Bobby Witt Jr. The Royals challenged the play for potential illegal blocking by catcher Connor Wong, but after review, the call stood.

The Red Sox have outscored their opponents 44-16 during this six-game winning streak, showcasing both offensive firepower and pitching depth. Looking ahead, Kansas City will send rookie right-hander Ryan Bergert (1-0, 2.78 ERA) to the mound in the next matchup, while Boston counters with left-hander Garrett Crochet (12-4, 2.23 ERA), who has been among the league’s best this season.
