Sounders Crush LA Galaxy with a Stunning 4-0 Victory
The Seattle Sounders delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over the LA Galaxy on Sunday night at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. This emphatic result, a rematch of the 2024 Western Conference Championship, highlighted Seattle’s dominance in the MLS Western Conference and reinforced their strong position in the playoff race.

The match’s breakthrough came in the 25th minute, when Paul Rothrock’s aggressive run to the back post forced LA defender Julian Aude into an own goal after a pinpoint cross from Pedro de la Vega. Seattle doubled their advantage in the 37th minute, as Rothrock slipped a clever through ball to Danny Musovski. Although Musovski’s initial shot was saved by Galaxy keeper Novak Mićović, he calmly finished the rebound for his first goal of the night.

LA Galaxy’s attacking efforts were largely stifled by the stellar performance of Sounders goalkeeper Andrew Thomas, who made critical saves against both Matheus Nascimento and Gabriel Pec early in the second half. Seattle’s relentless pressure paid off once more in the 54th minute, when de la Vega set up Jesús Ferreira for a shot that forced another save from Mićović, allowing Musovski to tap in his second goal from close range. This brace elevated Musovski to a career-high 10 goals in MLS play this season, tying him with Albert Rusnák for the team lead, and underlining his resurgence as a key offensive weapon for the Sounders.

The scoring was capped off in the 85th minute. Kalani Kossa-Rienzi slipped Alex Roldan to the end line, who cut the ball back for Snyder Brunell. The 18-year-old midfielder marked his MLS debut by firing home a first-time finish, further illustrating Seattle’s depth and promising youth talent. Brunell’s goal came just weeks after he signed his first professional contract and made his club debut in the Leagues Cup.

Veteran midfielder Cristian Roldan also reached a significant milestone, earning his 300th career MLS regular season appearance, joining goalkeeper Stefan Frei as the only Sounders in the exclusive “300 Club.”

With this result, the Sounders now sit fourth in the Western Conference, boasting 41 points from 25 matches. They extended their unbeaten streak to 10 matches across all competitions (7 wins, 3 draws) since their exit from the FIFA Club World Cup, scoring an impressive 29 goals during this run. The team will look to continue their form as they travel to face Minnesota United next weekend, before returning home for a Leagues Cup quarterfinal against Liga MX’s Club Puebla.
