Scottie Scheffler Pursues Back-to-Back FedExCup Titles with New Caddie
Scottie Scheffler will compete at the BMW Championship with a new fill-in caddie, Michael Cromie, as he continues his pursuit of consecutive FedExCup titles. Scheffler’s regular caddie, Ted Scott, remains away due to a family matter, a situation that previously led Brad Payne to carry the bag during the final round of the recent FedEx St. Jude Championship. Scottie Scheffler PGA TOUR Player Profile confirms his status as the current FedExCup leader after a standout season that includes four wins, two of them majors.

Cromie, stepping in for Scott at Caves Valley Golf Club, is no stranger to the PGA TOUR, having worked with Chris Kirk for several seasons. Kirk narrowly missed qualification for the second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs, finishing 51st after a strong late-season run. Scheffler expressed gratitude to Kirk for allowing Cromie to caddie this week, highlighting Cromie’s All-American collegiate golf background and his 2014 North & South Amateur win.

Scheffler stated he has been in regular contact with Ted Scott and supports his caddie’s decision to prioritize family at this time. The partnership between Scheffler and Scott has produced 17 PGA TOUR victories since late 2021, underlining their success on tour.

Last week, with Payne as his caddie, Scheffler finished tied for third at TPC Southwind, just missing a playoff. Payne previously assisted Scheffler at the 2023 PGA Championship, where Scheffler finished T8 under challenging circumstances. As the postseason continues, Scheffler remains focused on maintaining his top position in the standings and aims to make history as the first player to win back-to-back FedExCups.
