Detroit Lions Defeat Ravens 38-30 in Thrilling Monday Night Showdown
The Detroit Lions defeated the Baltimore Ravens 38-30 on Monday Night Football, delivering a strong statement early in the 2025 NFL season. This road win improved Detroit’s record to 2-1 and showcased their ability to compete with the league’s elite. Detroit’s defense dominated the night, sacking Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson seven times, tying the most sacks he’s ever taken in a single game. The Lions also held Baltimore to just 85 rushing yards while racking up 224 yards on the ground themselves. Running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery each scored two rushing touchdowns, with Montgomery posting a career-high 151 yards on 12 carries, including a 72-yard run and a game-clinching 31-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jared Goff was efficient, completing 20 of 28 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown to Amon-Ra St. Brown, who finished with seven receptions for 77 yards. The Lions scored on four of five second-half possessions and converted all three of their fourth-down attempts, including a critical 20-yard completion from Goff to St. Brown on 4th-and-2 with under two minutes left. Baltimore kept the game close with Jackson throwing for 288 yards and three touchdowns, two to tight end Mark Andrews. Derrick Henry added a 28-yard rushing score but also lost a crucial fourth-quarter fumble that set up a Detroit field goal. The Ravens played without key defensive linemen Nnamdi Madubuike and Kyle Van Noy, which contributed to their struggles containing Detroit’s physical ground attack. This result snapped a five-game losing streak for the Lions against the Ravens and marked Detroit’s first-ever win in Baltimore. Under head coach Dan Campbell, Detroit has now won four straight Monday Night Football games and continues to look like a legitimate contender in the NFC. Next, the Ravens travel to face Kansas City, while the Lions return home to host Cleveland. For more, see the full recap on ESPN.
