Buffalo Bills Triumph Over Saints 31-19 to Remain Undefeated
The Buffalo Bills maintained their perfect start to the 2025 NFL season, defeating the New Orleans Saints 31-19 at Highmark Stadium on September 28. With this win, the Bills improved to 4-0, while the Saints remained winless at 0-4. Quarterback Josh Allen was the difference-maker for Buffalo, accounting for three touchdowns—throwing for two and rushing for one. Allen finished 16-of-22 for 209 yards, adding 29 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Running back James Cook posted his third straight 100+ yard rushing game, tallying 117 yards and a score. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir opened the scoring with a 43-yard touchdown catch, and tight end Dalton Kincaid sealed the win with a 28-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter. The Saints kept the game close for three quarters, powered by a strong run game from Spencer Rattler, Kendre Miller, and Alvin Kamara. Miller’s 18-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter marked the first time this season New Orleans scored on their opening drive. Kicker Blake Grupe converted field goals from 54 and 35 yards, but red-zone struggles limited New Orleans to field goals instead of touchdowns. Rattler finished with 125 passing yards and a short touchdown pass to Chris Olave in the third quarter, but the Saints failed on the ensuing two-point conversion that could have narrowed the gap to 21-18. Buffalo’s defense delivered key stops in the final quarter, including two fourth-down stands. A critical Saints red-zone trip ended with a failed “Philly Special” trick play, intercepted by Buffalo rookie safety Cole Bishop for his first career pick. New Orleans linebacker Jonas Sanker grabbed his own first interception earlier, breaking a 391-play turnover-free streak for the Bills. Defensive end Cam Jordan notched the 124th sack of his career for the Saints, but Buffalo’s offense continued to answer every challenge. The Bills have now scored 30 or more points in each of their first four games, a feat last accomplished by the franchise in 1992. This victory also marked Buffalo’s 14th straight regular-season home win and their first home win over the Saints since 1983. Head coach Sean McDermott earned his 90th career win, reaching the milestone in 135 games—the fastest since George Seifert in 1992. Looking ahead, the Saints will try to earn their first win when they host the New York Giants on October 5, while the Bills will face the New England Patriots as they aim to extend their winning streak.
