With just over six minutes left in the first half, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart targeted Nabers deep down the right sideline. Nabers leapt for the ball but landed awkwardly, immediately grabbing his right knee and screaming in pain. He was carted off the field and did not return. By that point, Nabers had recorded two catches for 20 yards on three targets.
Head coach Brian Daboll expressed concern after the game, stating, “Unfortunately, this is a business of injury, and I feel terrible for Malik’s injury. He’s an important piece of our team, but the next man up has to be ready.”
The injury reignited criticism of MetLife Stadium’s turf, with former Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. voicing frustration on X (formerly Twitter), calling the field “DeathLife” and urging the NFL to address the ongoing player safety concerns related to artificial turf.
If the MRI confirms an ACL tear, Nabers is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 NFL season. The Giants now face the challenge of reshuffling their receiving corps, with Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton expected to step into more prominent roles. Depth options include promoting Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the practice squad or exploring potential trades, as outlined by Giants Wire.
Nabers, a second-year pro, has quickly become a focal point of the Giants’ offense. His absence will be a significant blow as New York continues its 2025 campaign.
