Shedeur Sanders Aims to Shine as Cleveland Browns Quarterback
Shedeur Sanders, currently the No. 3 quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, continues to attract attention both on and off the field as he navigates the early stages of his NFL career. Drafted in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders entered the league after a standout collegiate run at Colorado, where he set multiple school records and was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2024.

During the Browns’ recent quarterback shakeup, Sanders remained the third-string option behind rookie Dillon Gabriel, who replaced veteran Joe Flacco as starter. Despite not yet taking a regular-season snap, Sanders maintains confidence in his readiness, stating via Adam Schefter that he believes he could outperform some current starters in the league. Last week, Sanders handled media questions about the quarterback changes with a silent, unorthodox approach, possibly in response to criticism from ESPN analyst Rex Ryan.

Sanders’ football journey began at Jackson State, where he posted a 23-3 record as a starter and was named SWAC Player of the Year in 2022 before transferring to Colorado. In four collegiate seasons, he played 50 games, completing 1,267 of 1,808 passes (70.1%) for 14,353 yards, 134 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. His senior year at Colorado saw him complete 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Sanders made his NFL preseason debut with the Browns, completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. The Browns’ front office sees potential in Sanders, with head coach Kevin Stefanski expressing optimism about his future contributions.

Off the field, Sanders is known for his focus and resilience, often sharing motivational messages on social media such as his recent post: “GOD doesn’t make mistakes. When you realize that everything happens for a reason, you’ll find peace in your situation.” For more updates, follow Shedeur Sanders on X.

Sanders is the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and continues to build his own legacy in the NFL. While he waits for his regular season opportunity in Cleveland, his track record and mindset suggest he could become a starter in the near future.
