Washington Dominates Rutgers in Big Ten Rematch
The Washington Huskies defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 38-19 in a Big Ten matchup on October 10, 2025, at Husky Stadium in Seattle. The Huskies, now 4-1 on the season, avenged their 2024 loss to Rutgers and secured their second consecutive conference win. Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr. delivered a standout performance, passing for 402 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 136 yards and two more scores. Freshman receiver Dezmen Roebuck contributed 108 receiving yards, marking his first 100-yard game. Senior running back Jonah Coleman, the nation’s leader in rushing touchdowns, added another score to his tally, helping the Huskies dominate the third quarter. Rutgers started strong, taking a 10-0 lead in the first quarter with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Athan Kaliakmanis to K.J. Duff and a 35-yard field goal by Jai Patel. Washington responded with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Williams Jr. to Denzel Boston and a field goal by Grady Gross, narrowing the gap to 13-10 at halftime. The second half saw Washington’s offense take control. Coleman’s 1-yard rushing touchdown gave the Huskies their first lead, and Williams Jr. followed with a 38-yard touchdown pass to Boston and two rushing touchdowns of his own, including a 7-yard run to seal the game. Washington’s defense limited Rutgers to just eight rushing yards in the second quarter and forced a key turnover on downs in the red zone. Kaliakmanis finished with 336 yards and two touchdowns for Rutgers, connecting with Antwan Raymond for a 48-yard score in the third quarter. Raymond led Rutgers’ ground game with 89 rushing yards. Despite a balanced attack, Rutgers could not keep pace with Washington’s explosive third quarter, during which the Huskies averaged 11.3 yards per play and scored three touchdowns on three drives. With this victory, Washington improved its all-time series lead over Rutgers to 3-1. The teams’ last meeting in 2024 ended in a 21-18 win for Rutgers, their first ever against the Huskies (Rutgers-Washington Football History). The Huskies’ win in 2025 highlights their growth and ability to finish drives, correcting the mistakes that cost them in the previous season. Looking ahead, Washington will aim to continue its momentum in Big Ten play, while Rutgers seeks to rebound from its third consecutive loss.
