Yoshinobu Yamamoto Dominates in 2025 MLB Season with Dodgers
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a standout performance in the 2025 MLB season, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s top pitchers. In his second season with the Dodgers, Yamamoto posted a 12-8 win-loss record, a 2.49 ERA (4th in MLB), and 201 strikeouts (tied-11th), while maintaining a 0.99 WHIP (6th). Yamamoto’s full stats and splits illustrate his consistency and dominance on the mound. Yamamoto, who stands 5-foot-10 and weighs 176 pounds, made his MLB debut on March 21, 2024, against the San Diego Padres in South Korea. Despite a challenging first outing, he quickly adapted, recording his best regular season start on June 7 against the New York Yankees with seven scoreless innings and seven strikeouts. Throughout the season, Yamamoto was briefly sidelined with a right rotator cuff strain but returned to contribute during the postseason. In his first MLB postseason, Yamamoto went 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in four starts, including a strong World Series Game 2 performance against the Yankees, where he allowed just one run over 6.1 innings to secure the win for Los Angeles Dodgers. His transition from the Nippon Professional Baseball league was seamless, building on a stellar career in Japan where he won multiple MVP awards and pitching Triple Crowns with the Orix Buffaloes. Internationally, Yamamoto led Team Japan to a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a World Baseball Classic title. Yamamoto, born August 17, 1998, in Bizen, Japan, signed with the Dodgers as a free agent in December 2023 on a 12-year, $325 million contract. At 27, he has already accumulated 306 career MLB strikeouts and a World Series championship. For more details, follow Yamamoto on Instagram.
